Aleem Khan, the minister for Punjab food, decides to step down
Aleem Khan, a PTI leader, has opted to resign from his job as Punjab’s food minister, but Prime Minister Imran Khan has not yet given his assent, according to reports.
According to Geo News, the minister has twice submitted his resignation to Prime Minister Imran Khan, and he has also presented it to him during a meeting, but PM Imran Khan has not accepted it as of yet.
‘Personal factors,’ according to the minister, motivated his decision to step down.
“I requested permission to step down from my position six months ago […] and, if he agrees, I will resign from my position,” the minister said in an interview with Geo News.
On Wednesday, the federal cabinet accepted the appointment of Dr Kamran Ali Afzal to the position of Punjab chief secretary, replacing Jawad Rafique Malik, who had served in the position since 2011.
Furthermore, the cabinet accepted the appointment of Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) Director-General Additional IGP Rao Sardar as Punjab Police Chief, who was previously appointed by the governor. Inam Ghani, the current Punjab Inspector General, will be replaced by him.
The selections were made in accordance with a summary of the appointments that was provided to the cabinet by Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar.
