General (ret) Ishfaq Nadeem passed away on Sept 24, 2021

On Friday, Lieutenant General (Retired) Ishfaq Nadeem died as a result of a heart arrest in his home.

In the former Army Chief General Raheel Sharif’s company, he was a close friend.

The appointment of General Ishfaq Nadeem to the position of chief of general staff was made shortly after General Raheel Sharif was appointed as Pakistan’s army leader in 2013.

His contributions to the Pakistan Army are innumerable and invaluable. The majority of his time was spent as the director general of Military Operations and the Chief of General Staff, though.

It is a little-known truth that he was the architect and driving force behind the Zarb-e-Azb operation in Afghanistan.

The Zarb-e-Azb Operation was the greatest and most successful military operation in the history of Pakistan, and it was responsible for liberating the country from terrorism.

General Ishfaq Nadeem had recently been named director-general of military operations, which coincided with the timing of this operation. Under his direction, the entire endeavour was a resounding success.

Gen Ishfaq was a member of the 34th Infantry Division and was in command of a strike infantry division. In addition, he was the commander of a successful military operation in Swat. As a Brigadier, he was also the Chief of Staff of Strike Corps Mangla, and he was widely regarded as one of the best troops in the Pakistani Army.

General Ishfaq Qureshi was born into the family of Ahmed Khan Qureshi, a highly respected engineer who worked on the engineering side of Radio Pakistan till he retired in 2003. General Ishfaq was born in Nila (Chakwal) and raised in the family of Ahmed Khan Qureshi, a highly recognised military officer.

Ishfaq had graduated from Staff College, Camberley and was a standout officer with superb academic credentials.
