Kamyab Pakistan Program will be launched within this month: Tarin

The government has agreed to invest Rs1.6 trillion in the Kamyab Pakistan Program initiative over the next three years to help the country’s poor.

Shaukat Tarin, the Federal Minister of Finance and Revenue, indicated that the parameters of the Kamyab Pakistan initiative were drafted after a lengthy collaborative process to ensure that all key parties were on board.

Kamyab Pakistan is a flagship initiative that would provide micro-loans to entrepreneurs, small enterprises, and farmers. The major goal is to give loans to 4.5 million low-income households that are enrolled in the Ehsaas Program’s National Socio-Economic Registry (NSER).

The cumulative disbursement under the program would be Rs1.6 trillion over the next three to five years and is expected to benefit three million families, which will make this program one of the largest in the world where microcredits will be disbursed under a wholesale agreement. among banks, development finance institutions (DFIs), Pakistan Mortgage Refinance Company, microfinance banks, and financial institutions or housing finance companies.

Under the Kamyab Kissan Program, agricultural loans must be provided to farmers with properties up to 12.5 acres. Microloans would be extended up to Rs150,000 (per harvest) for the purchase of agricultural inputs to increase agricultural productivity. In addition, loans of up to Rs200,000 would be provided for machinery and equipment.

Likewise, loans must be granted to small businesses and start-ups with a 0% margin in rural and urban areas under ‘Kamyab Karobar’. The loan amount is up to Rs500,000 and payment will be in easy installments.

The third component of the scheme is the introduction of a new level called the Naya Pakistan Low-Cost Housing Scheme, under which loans of up to Rs2.7 million (for NAPHDA) and Rs2 million (for non-NAPHDA) projects will be granted at rates highly subsidized for up to 20 years.

The Kamyab Pakistan program will also be integrated into the government’s skills development program for educational and vocational training; under the ‘Kamyab Hunarmand’ scheme and provincial initiative of the Sehat Insaf Card.

The program is designed to promote the “bottom-up” approach as envisioned by the Prime Minister. It aims to empower all those who are underprivileged and belong to marginalized sectors of society. The ECC approved the Kamyab Pakistan program at its meeting held on 16 July.
