The IHC has yet to make a decision on Nawaz Sharif’s appeals

The High Court of Islamabad rejected its judgment on the subject of hearing Nawaz Sharif, former Premier, in defiance of the verdict of Avenfield, with him overseas.

The IHC judges Amir Farooq and Mohsin Akhtar Kayani held the hearing on the appeal of Nawaz, her daughter, and Pakistan Muslim League N Vice President Maryam Nawaz and her husband, Capt (retd) Safdar Awan.

Azam Nazir Tarrar, Court Adviser and attorney for Nawaz Sharif have contended that the constitution protects the right to hear.

“As I learn, requests were dismissed without debating the merits of the case for persons who were not present for their hearing,” the council stated.

In response, Justice Kayani said that even if their plea is denied, the rights of an accused would not be impacted.

“The apex court might still appeal pleas rejected on the basis of merit,” the judge stated.

On the other side, the National Accountability Bureau requested that the appeal against the Avenfield and Al-Azizia referrals be rejected by elder Sharif.

NAB Attorney Jahanzeb Bharwane, however, claimed that Maryam and Safdar were heard before the court.

The IHC retained its discretion to consider the plea of the former premier in its absence, following the argument.

On 9 June, the IHC gave the ex-Premier Nawaz Sharif’s attorney extra time to let him move further with the Avenfield case judgment’s appeal to his client.
